The Mission of the North Fork Pool, Park and Recreation District is to provide our community with a variety of activities and programs that enhance healthy lifestyles, build strong families and provide a sense of community pride.
In 1993, North Fork residents voted to create the North Fork Pool, Park and Recreation District. Thanks to generous support from our community, Great Outdoors Colorado, and other funders, the North Fork Swimming Pool became a reality in 1995.
There are numerous recreation districts in Colorado, each providing unique recreational opportunities to their community. Each has specified boundaries and is managed and operated in accordance with Colorado statutes.
Our boundaries include an area of approximately 400 square miles and 8800 residents. The towns of Crawford, Hotchkiss, Paonia and unincorporated areas surrounding them lie within our boundaries. In addition to building, managing, and maintaining the area swimming pool, we maintain the Paonia Skate Park at Paonia Town Park, and also the Apple Valley Tennis Courts. In 2000, the Kid's Kingdom Playground, located next to the swimming pool, was built in partnership with the North Fork Community Montessori School.
